Meralco Seeks 900-MW Baseload Supply

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has launched a Competitive Selection Process (CSP) for 900 megawatts (MW) of baseload power supply to meet its customers’ growing electricity demand.

The move follows the Department of Energy’s (DOE) issuance of a Certificate of Conformity for the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the Power Supply Agreements (PSAs) covering the requirement through 2031.

Through its Bids and Awards Committee for PSAs, Meralco is inviting power generation companies to submit Expressions of Interest by October 15, 2026.

The Pre-Bid Conference is set for November 6, with bid submissions due on December 9.

The resulting 15-year PSAs will cover 600 MW of supply beginning February 26, 2031, and an additional 300 MW starting February 26, 2032, subject to approval by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

Through the CSP, Meralco aims to secure sufficient and reliable power supply as electricity demand continues to grow across its franchise area.
