Just when we thought that we already know everything about our planet, the most mysterious stuff suddenly appears out of nowhere.
That’s exactly what had happened to the team of the renowned explorer Julian Bayliss.
Bayliss has always dreamt of taking in grand adventures. Those types of adventures that will allow him not only to travel but will also allow him to make the most bizarre discoveries.
One afternoon, he was scrolling through Google maps when he saw something interesting. He looked directly at the top of the Mount Lico in Mozambique and spotted something that’s truly remarkable.
While looking at Mount Lico he saw a rain forest and he’s a hundred percent sure that no one has ever explored that rain forest before. What made everything even more intriguing is that the sides of the cliff of the mountain were steep.
This was Bayliss’ chance to explore and take an adventure on a place where no one had gone before.
Bayliss immediately started working. He assembled a team of superstars. Their team consisted of 28 people included scientists, doctors, rock climbers and a chef. They had different careers but they all had one thing in common – all of them are great at what they did.
The adventure started. Before they could get to the base of the mountain, they had to search through the villages and negotiate with the locals they encounter. They have successfully reached the base and found that the mountain was extremely tall that they can no longer see the top.
Mount Lico is 400 feet tall and is even taller than two Leaning Towers of Pisa combined. One wrong move or one wrong step could end their lives.
Jules Lines, the most accomplished free-soloist rock climber in the world only spent 11 minutes climbing up to the top of the mountain. For those with less experience, it took them two hours to climb it.
After they reached the peak of the mountain, they were left in awe. They were welcomed with thousands of butterflies. The 84-year-old butterfly expert Collin Congdon was truly happy with that sight.
Slowly, their beautiful discoveries became disturbing. Through their journey they have encountered poisonous caterpillars crawling into their tents and shoes, huge rats with long tails and sharp teeths and even venomous spiders.
In fact, Johnathan Timberlake, a botanist had a bloody experienced. He felt a sharp pain on his leg only to find himself covered in blood. turns out, a blade of grass cut him.
They are currently in a place located extremely far from a hospital and the next thing they knew, his leg and his whole body was burning. He felt weak and needed immediate medical attention.
The team then strapped him into the harness and guided him down, He made it to the base of the mountain but at that point, he already had a fever and he was already hallucinating. The doctor immediately gave him the treatment he needed and all they had to do is wait. The good news is, Timberlake was able to make a full recovery and decided to stay at the base camp through the rest of the expedition.
When they found alien-like-creatures, they thought that it’s already the best discovery they made. To their surprise, one of the team members suddenly screamed and found something impressive.
Along the water’s edge, they found handmade pots and the moment Bayliss saw it, he felt the cold chills go down his spine.
The team continued to work on solving the mystery and some of them started making assumptions. Some guest that the pots were used for religious ceremonies. The explorers then asked the locals if they ever encountered anyone attempting to climb Lico before.
They were left in total shock when the natives told them about a tribe of murderous little people who used to live up on Lico. In addition to that, they also recalled an incident in which a Portuguese soldiers attempting to climb up only to fall violently and meet their death earlier than expected.
Who would have thought that their impulsive decision to explore the unexplored mountain Lico would turn into something really exciting and at the same time disturbing right?
Bayliss’ team only went to the mountain to experience beauty but they ended up taking discovering the untouched oasis that was actually tainted by a horrifying story. The rainforest was filled with a horror and human aggression.
