Isang beteranong journalist na ito, ginulat ang mga tao sa kaniyang biglaang pagpanaw

Entertainment industry are once again mourning over the sudden death of respected veteran showbiz editor/columnist, Ricky Lo.

Lo passed away at age of 75.

Lo’s family are asking for privacy, the same reason why they have not disclosed the reason of the journalist’s death.

He worked as an editorial assistant at Variety magazine from 1969 to 1972. Variety magazine is the Sunday supplement of the old Manila Times.

Pope Paul VI’s visit to the Philippines in November 1970 was Lo’s first assignment as a reporter for the Manila Times.

Lo served as the entertainment editor of The Philippine STAR from July 1986 to May 2021.

In 1995, Lo released Star Studded , a book compilation of his articles about artists.

Years of his experience, Lo slowly became one of the most influential writer and host in the industry.

He is often called the “dean of Philippine showbiz reporters,” that is why a lot of celebrities became good friends with him.

Vilma Santos-Recto posts a tribute to him in Instagram.

“Thank you Ricky. I love you my friend!!! I will miss you. Rest in peace,” Santos said.

“Our sincere condolences and prayers,” she, meanwhile, wrote in the caption.

Queen of Comedy, Ai-ai delas Alas also bid farewell to Lo, whom she considers as one of his real friends in the industry.

“[Pahinga] ka na friend… Rest in peace… salamat sa ating pagkakaibigang punong puno ng respeto sa isat isa .. sobrang nalungkot ako nabawasan na naman kaibigan ko …bihira pa naman makakita ng totoong kaibigan sa mundong kinagagalawan [natin],” Delas Alas said.

News anchor Karen Davila also penned Lo a tribute message.

“Kind [and soft-spoken] but would always get the scoop! He was always first. You either feared or loved him — depending how you ended up on his powerful column. Tough act to follow,” Davila said on Twitter also earlier today.
