Marriage requires responsibility. Aside from love, it is your obligation to accept your lover for who he was, is and will become in the long run of your relationship.

It also means committing yourself on everything that means a lot to him, especially to his family.

That is why when you marry a single parent, your love has to be genuine enough to be connected with his or her kid.

For Katie Hild, marrying her lover Jeremy means marrying his son, Landon as well.

All throughout the years, Katie tried so hard to stay on her place while reaching out to Landon so he can finally acknowledge her as Jeremy’s wife.

But the bride thought that for Landon to finally grasp the situation, she should have a good relationship with his mom as well.

That is where she swallowed the tension between her and Jeremy’s ex wife, Casey.

Eventually, they became great friends and that is where Katie was able to earn Casey and Landon’s respect as well.

“I may not have been there for his first step, potty training, or his first dentist appt., but Casey respected me like I was. She still treated me like his mom. It never was an act (although I thought it was at times). She was true.”

And during her wedding day, she did not only giver her vows to Jeremy but also to Casey and Landon as welll!

She made her friend stand up as she promised that she will do her best to be the best step mom that she can. She said that whatever happens, she will love and take care of Landon like her own son.

Casey stood there crying, touched by Katie’s pure intention and good heart.

Lastly, she called Landon and gave her vows as well.

On her Facebook post, Katie explained her thinking.

“Co-parenting means sharing the duties of a child,” Katie said. “So, I didn’t tell anyone what I was doing. I not only vowed to Jeremy. I gave a vow to Casey and Tyler. Then I vowed to Landon, and then to Jeremy.

“I wasn’t just going into a marriage with Jeremy and needed his trust and respect, but I needed Casey’s and Tyler’s, too. One thing I promised, was to be ONE family, always. I know without hesitation, we will never break that promise.”
