Comedian and actor Ate Gay revealed the reason of closing his siomai business just months after its opening.
According to the celeb, he opened his food stall to have something to take care of despite of losing job due to the pandemic.
Because of the quarantine, many comedy bars decided to officially close, especially the long time running Klownz and Zirkoh.
During the press conference of his upcoming film, Ayuda Babes, the comedian talked about his experience on running his business.
“Wala na yun, nung ECQ [Enhanced Community Quarantine] lang yun, e.
“ECQ, wala akong magawa, e, sarado yung mga ano, comedy bars, e, hangga’t wala kang mga ginagawa, e, di nagtayo ka ng Siomai Himala.
“Ngayon nung medyo okay-okay na ang trabaho, isinara ko na.”
Ever since the opening of Siomai Himala, Ate Gay was hands on with his business.
But now that the industry is slowly getting back on normal, it was time to put his siomai food store to resrt.
“E, kasi walang nagbabantay. Pag wala ako dun, walang bumibili, e!
“Kasi yung mga bumibili dun, nagpapa-picture kasi nga ang ganda ng appearance ko sa 24 Oras.”
But when it comes to the recovery of his bread and butter for 25 years: comedy bars, Ate Gay have long accepted the fact that it will take a much longer time for the industry to get back on its feet again.
“Parang magsisimula uli, kumbaga matatagalan yun bago mag-ano.”

After 16 years, Ate Gay was grateful to be given another opportunity to star a film.
2006 when the comedian top billed his first ever film Jupit.
“Okay naman, masaya! Sabi ko nga dapat pala ganito yung mga pelikula para hindi ka nahihirapang magpatawa.
“Kasi bukod sa nakakatawa yung mga kasama ko, e, talagang lalaban ako sa pakikipagtawanan.”
