JTI Philippines names Alan Jackson as new general manager

JTI Philippines has appointed Alan Jackson as its new General Manager, bringing more than two decades of international leadership experience across Asia, Africa, North America, Western Europe, and the Middle East.

Jackson joined JTI in 2007 and has since held various leadership positions across the company, including General Manager roles in Tanzania and Canada. Before taking the Philippines post, he served as Marketing & Sales Vice President for JTI’s South Asia region.

He takes the helm of JTI Philippines as the company seeks to strengthen its portfolio in the local market while addressing challenges facing the legitimate tobacco industry.

JTI Philippines’ portfolio includes international brands Winston, Camel, Mevius and LD; local brand Mighty; Nordic Spirit nicotine pouches; and Ploom Aura, its heated tobacco product.

“The Philippines is an important market for JTI, with talented people, strong partnerships, and significant opportunities ahead,” Jackson said. “My focus is on building on these strengths and continuing to grow the business responsibly and sustainably.”

Jackson said one of his priorities will be to keep adult consumers at the center of the company’s efforts through innovation, while working with stakeholders to address illicit trade and help create a fair and sustainable operating environment.

“Illicit trade remains a serious challenge that no single sector can address alone,” he said. “Continued collaboration between government and industry will be critical to protecting government revenues and maintaining a fair and competitive market.”

His appointment comes as the legitimate tobacco sector continues to face pressure from illicit products, which affect both government revenues and compliant businesses.
