How Conrad Manila’s front-desk officer makes time for art

By Andrea B. Ramos

Behind his persona as front office manager at Conrad Manila, Spencer Ozo finds the time to pursue his passion of making art now showcased in “Intimate Reflections,” the 42nd edition of Conrad Manila’s “Of Art and Wine” on Gallery C.

Curated by Nestor Jardin, Ozo started his artistic journey on his first exhibition in 2022 and came back with a 25-piece exhibition this July capturing emotions that cannot be portrayed by language alone — vulnerability, resilience, and self-discovery.

“As a valued team member of our organization, Spencer exemplifies our commitment to fostering a workplace where individuals are empowered to pursue their passions, realize their potential, and express their creativity both within and beyond the professional roles that they have,” Conrad Manila General Manager Rupert Hallam said.

Ozo reiterates that he is grateful for an opportunity, as a Filipino employee of Conrad, to showcase his artistry and passion.

When talking about finding the time to do art, Ozo shared that together with his wife, they constantly travel to Japan, where he eventually discovered the Japanese term “Misogi.”

“So Misogi is a Japanese term highlighting one eventful year-defining moment. And this is the key for happiness. And all I want is just to be happy. So now, this is that one eventful event. Not only because of the artworks, but because yesterday, thank God, I was made known that I will be a dad,” Ozo shared.

Driving inspiration from renowned artists such as Lizanne Uychaco from her exhibition of “Spectrum of Abundance” and Lara Latosa’s “Bayside,” they are both artists, who like Ozo, find the time to pursue their art amidst responsibilities of a full-time job.

Ozo hopes to inspire aspiring artists to find the time in this bustling world to unleash creativity and tell their own stories through art.

“Lastly, to the most patient, loving, understanding person in my life, my wife and soon-to-be mother of a beautiful baby, I love you, thank you, and you are my inspiration.”

The “Intimate Reflections” by Spencer Ozo is currently on exhibit at Conrad Manila Gallery C until September 26, 2026.
