PLDT, Smart launch AI emergency preparedness tool
PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. have introduced an artificial intelligence-powered emergency preparedness platform that helps employees and their families better prepare for disasters through personalized planning and risk assessments.
Called EVE (Emergency Vital Essentials), the agentic AI solution provides customized emergency preparedness recommendations based on an employee’s location, household profile, medical conditions, mobility needs, dietary requirements, and other factors that could affect disaster response.
The initiative reflects PLDT and Smart’s broader efforts to strengthen workforce resilience by helping employees prepare before emergencies occur.
“Preparedness should not begin only when emergencies happen. It starts long before that, with awareness, planning, and making sure our people have the right tools to protect their families,” said Leo A. Gonzales, Vice President and Head of Property, Facilities, and Asset Resiliency Management for PLDT and Smart.
The platform enables employees to organize essential family information, identify potential hazards, and generate personalized emergency plans. It also uses AI-driven home safety assessments and scenario simulations to help households improve their preparedness and build confidence in responding to disasters.
In addition, EVE guides users in identifying reliable sources of information, developing family communication protocols, and creating reunification plans should emergencies occur.
The platform complements Handa, PLDT and Smart’s in-house mobile application that monitors employee location and safety during calamities. While Handa supports real-time response during emergencies, EVE focuses on strengthening preparedness before disasters strike.
The new AI platform forms part of PLDT and Smart’s continuing disaster resilience program, which leverages technology, partnerships, and employee-focused initiatives to help build safer and more resilient communities.
