Globe expands 5G, boosts mobile growth in PH

Mobile data continued to drive Globe Telecom’s growth in the first quarter of 2026, as the company expanded its 5G network, increased data usage among subscribers, and strengthened its digital customer engagement initiatives.

Globe reported mobile service revenues of ₱30.0 billion during the quarter, up 6% year-on-year, while its mobile subscriber base reached about 67 million.

The company said mobile data now accounts for 89% of total mobile service revenues, compared with 85% in the same period last year, reflecting the increasing reliance of Filipinos on digital services for communication, entertainment, online transactions, learning, and business activities.

To support rising demand, Globe deployed 408 new 5G sites during the quarter, expanding outdoor 5G population coverage to more than 98% in Metro Manila and key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Mobile data revenues increased 11% year-on-year, supported by higher usage of video streaming, social media, online gaming, digital payments, and other internet-based services. Mobile data traffic also grew 18%, while average monthly data consumption reached about 16 GB per subscriber.

Globe said more than 39 million customers actively use its mobile data services. Meanwhile, its GlobeOne app recorded an average of 8 million monthly users, reflecting continued adoption of the company’s digital platforms.

“Our priority is to execute on our plans well. We will deliver better customer experience through our digital platforms, and serve products that are relevant through hyperpersonalization. While we continue to expand our 5G network, we intend to deepen our fiber footprint, and differentiate more using digital technologies,” said Darius Delgado, Globe Chief Commercial Officer.

Globe said it will continue investing in network expansion, digital platforms, and customer-focused technologies as demand for mobile connectivity and digital services continues to grow across the country.
