ECCP welcomes enhanced EU-PH partnership

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) has welcomed the formal elevation of relations between the European Union (EU) and the Philippines to an Enhanced Partnership, describing it as a significant step toward deeper strategic cooperation and stronger economic engagement.

The Chamber said the upgraded relationship provides a more structured framework for expanding collaboration across key areas of mutual interest, reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the EU and the Philippines.

ECCP also welcomed the discussions between EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Teresa Lazaro, which underscored shared priorities ranging from ASEAN-EU cooperation to broader bilateral initiatives.

The development comes as the EU and the Philippines move closer to concluding negotiations for the EU-Philippines Free Trade Agreement (EU-PH FTA), a landmark pact expected to unlock new trade and investment opportunities for both sides.

ECCP reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the policy reforms, regulatory alignment, stakeholder engagement, and public-private collaboration needed to maximize the benefits of the proposed agreement and ensure its successful implementation.

“The Enhanced Partnership reflects the growing strength of EU-Philippines relations,” the Chamber said, adding that it remains committed to promoting closer economic cooperation, attracting investments, and advancing reforms that will foster sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
