Pinay wins silver in 2026 Asia Triathlon Cup in Vietnam
Filipina triathlete Mikele Jopson swam and sprinted her way to silver in the 2026 Asia Triathlon Cup held in Tam Chuc, Viet Nam last May 20, 2026, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a news release.
She competed in the Aquathlon event which consists of swimming and running. Trained by Filipino coach Melvin Faustino, Jopson finished the race under 18 minutes and 28 seconds, trailing merely 8 seconds behind the Vietnamese athlete who won the gold medal.
Tam Chuc is in Ninh Binh province which is about two hours away from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Ninh Binh is a popular tourist destination for both local and foreign tourists visiting Hanoi.
The Philippines is hosting the next Asia Triathlon Cup in Subic Bay in May 2027.
