DENR honors One Meralco Foundation as environmental sustainability partner

One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the corporate social responsibility arm of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has been recognized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources– Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) as a recipient of the “Gawad Kabalikat sa Kapaligiran” award for its outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability.

The recognition was conferred during the EMB Recognition of Partners held on February 26 in Quezon City.

DENR-EMB cited OMF as an “invaluable partner” in advancing environmental protection initiatives, particularly its programs on solar electrification for public schools, agriculture and livelihood facilities, health centers, and water systems. The foundation was also recognized for its reforestation efforts in critical mangrove and upland areas—investments aimed at building a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.

“This recognition as Gawad Kabalikat sa Kapaligiran is a testament to the power of our shared purpose,” said Jeffrey Tarayao, President of One Meralco Foundation. “It reinforces our belief that environmental sustainability is not a solo journey, but a collective responsibility. We are not just protecting resources—we are investing in a resilient, greener future for every community we serve.”

Tarayao received the award alongside Patrick Famisaran, OMF Program Manager for Environmental Sustainability, from DENR Acting Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna, with Assistant Secretary Jacqueline Caancan and Assistant Director Maria Dorica Naz-Hipe.
