LEAKIPEDIA: What’s really going on in Davao?
By THEPHILBIZNEWS STAFF
Davao is in turmoil, according to a source of THEPHILBIZNEWS, as the Dutertes are beginning to panic. Polong, who is running for re-election as congressman, is reportedly losing control, “nagwawala na.”
While Davao City is currently under the leadership of another former presidential son, Baste, Karlo Nograles is challenging the Duterte family’s long-standing dominance in the region—and it seems he’s gaining the upper hand. The former lawmaker and Civil Service Commission (CSC) official is running for Davao City mayor against his former boss, former President Rodrigo Duterte, in the upcoming May elections.
Voters, it seems, are eager for change.
In response, Polong, in typical Duterte fashion, resorted to mocking Karlo’s sexuality last week, openly mimicking him and dismissing his credibility. But this all reeks of desperation. Our source says that the Duterte patriarch himself is feeling the pressure.
And it’s clear that this nervous energy is affecting the Dutertes’ public demeanor. While they try to appear unfazed in public appearances, their fellow Bisayas are noticing that the once-dominant political dynasty has lost its “angas.” What was once unshakable bravado is now giving way to visible anxiety.
Even their supporters seem to be feeling the strain. Many are too afraid to openly acknowledge what everyone knows: the status quo is being threatened.
The Davao dramaserye is far from over. Stay tuned…
