Indonesia’s support for Typhoon Kristine victims arrive in Phl

The Philippine Government, through the Office of Civil Defense of the Department of National Defense, requested that the Indonesian Armed Forces deploy two (2) of its air assets on October 28, 2024. 

Indonesian Army Mi-17 and Indonesian Airforce’s H-225M Caracal departed from Semarang and Bogor respectively and arrived in Davao City on 30 October 2024. The aircraft are expected to arrive at the Villamor Airbase in Manila at 1015H today. 

Twenty-four (24) Indonesian military personnel headed by Col. Pnb Asep Wahyu Wijaya, Commander of Air Wing 4, Atang Sendjaja Air Force Base in Bogor, Indonesia to help in the evacuation, logistics, relief distribution, and reconstruction of the affected areas during the tropical storm Trami (local name: Kristine) that hit the Philippines. 

The aircraft will be welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Agus Widjojo who said, “Due to Indonesia and the Philippines’ geographical proximity and archipelagic in nature, both countries are prone to disaster. But because they share a special bond of kinship – Indonesia is always ready to support and assist the Philippines in these trying times and I’m sure the Philippines will do the same thing.”
