Beggar Arrested for Making 100,000 Monthly in Dubai

This person might be taking advantage of sadaqah to accumulate money from generous Muslims knowing that Ramadan has already started. Ramadan 2019 began in the evening of  May, 5 and ends in the evening of June 4.

It is known that most of the beggars come to Dubai on visit visas infiltrating markets, Ramadan tents, places of worship and parking areas.

According to an acting police director, tourist companies are bringing people without thoroughly checking the people.

An Asian beggar was arrested in Al Quoz and found out that it makes huge money amounting to 100,000 dirhams which is equivalent to 27 thousand plus in U.S dollar and 1 million plus in Philippine money.

Statistics by Dubai police shows that in 2015 there are 1,405 beggars were arrested, 1,021 in 2016, 653 in 2017, and 243 in 2018.

The decline of beggars caught over the years is due to an anti-begging campaign that was launched with the cooperation of Dubai police, the government and local authorities to crack down beggars who are begging during the month of Ramadan.
