Mag-Couple Nagampon ng Isang Batang Babae, Makalipas Ang Ilang Taon Hindi sila Makapaniwala sa Kanilang Natuklasan
They say that children are the best blessing that you can ever received. If children are a blessing, then why are some children being abandoned?
It sure is heartbreaking to know that a huge number of children’s population are being abandoned and left on their own by irresponsible parents.
The good thing is, there are foundations and facilities to care for the ones who were left behind. What makes it even better is that there are couples who are always excited to adopt them.
Jessica and Adam Davis, a loving couple from Ohio is just one of the couples in the world who has expressed their interest in adopting a child.
The couple already have four children when adoption came across their minds.
They conducted their own research and even went through the lengthy and truly time consuming process of adopting internationally. The Davis family wanted to make sure that they their adoption process will be a success. They ended up spending $65,000 for paperworks and a year of formalities to complete the process of adoption.
Everything was a success and soon they have welcomed the 6-year-old girl to her new home.
Namata, who is a six-year-old girl from Uganda was left all by herself. Her father was deceased while her mother neglected her.
Jessica and Adam adopted the little from Uganda upon learning that it is the country that has the highest need of adoptive parents.
Namata was able to adjust quickly into her new home and soon she was already playing and happily spending time with her new family. Time flies so fast and soon enough, she learned how to speak English.
Jessica and Adam thought that it was a good news but as Namata’s English speaking skills improve, day by day, Namata slowly uncovers her heartbreaking and horrifying past.
“I came to realize that she was telling me something vastly different—and vastly more important,” Jessica writes.
Jessica recalled how Namata said that her mother would always walk her to school and take good care of her. There was not a single information about neglect and abuse she had suffered was true.
“The only trauma this child ever experienced was because we essentially placed an order for a child,” Adam tells CNN. “She was home and happy with her mother, until they selected her for us.”
In 2015, when the couple visited Namata inn Uganda after adopting her, she was in an orphanage. However, reports claimed that her mother was living in a village that was only four hours away, thinking that her daughter was sent to school temporarily.
As it turns out, traffickers in their village entered a church and approved her mom. They offered her an opportunity for Namata to receive an all expense paid education In America for two years.
“More than that, we eventually uncovered that she had a very loving family from which she had been unlawfully taken, in order (we believe and are convinced) to provide an “orphan” to fulfill our application to adopt,” Jessica said.
Namata’s mom believed the traffickers and believed that she will be returned to her without knowing that she was already signing the parental rights.
“Devastated doesn’t even begin to explain what we felt once we realized what had transpired to bring Namata into our family. Namata’s mother was told only that Adam and I were going to care for her child while we provided her with an education, which is a central pathway to empowerment and opportunity in Uganda,” she added.
Jessica continued and said “So when this supposed chance to be sponsored by a “wealthy” American couple was presented to her, she felt as if she and her daughter had been blessed. She never knowingly relinquished her rights as Namata’s mother, but once there was a verbal confirmation that we would adopt Namata, those on the ground in Uganda forged paperwork and placed Mata in an orphanage.”
When Jessica and Adam learned about the horrifying truth, they immediately reached out to an organization called Reunite Uganda. They were able to locate Uganda’s ream mother and immediately arranged for them to meet online.
With the information Jessica and Adam have, the US government officials told them to decide whether to keep Namata or allow her to reunite with her mother. Knowing that her mother’s rights were stripped without her knowing it, they decided to let Namata reunite with her mom.
Soon enough, Namata reunited with her mom in Uganda.
“The travesty in this injustice is beyond words. I must be clear in the following statement: My race, country of origin, wealth (though small, it’s greater than that of the vast majority of people in the world), my access to “things,” my religion — none of these privileges entitles me to the children of the poor, voiceless and underprivileged,” Jessica said.
