Victoria Island is located on the Arctic Circle’s shore, where the temperature is frequently minus zero degrees Fahrenheit. The Arctic hides some mysteries behind those layers of ice.
On Victoria Island, the eighth biggest island on the planet, David Kuptana is one of 2,000 people who reside there. Despite the island’s vast size, just a few people live there (approximately the size of Idaho).
David grew up in Ulukhaktok, a tiny seaside town with a population of only a few hundred people. Ulukhaktok is noted for its beautiful musk ox horn sculptures, but not for its farmers’ markets or grocery shops.

Many Inuits in the north survive off the land rather than paying exorbitant rates for seldom available food. This is when the magnificent polar bears enter the picture.
Polar bears spend more time on land when the temperature rises, giving the Inuit people the opportunity to hunt them. Their flesh is used for food, while their fur is used for trousers and boots. These fluffy white bears have long been revered in their culture.
As the polar bear population began to dwindle, hunting rules altered; nevertheless, hunting is still permitted for Alaskan residents and for the entire country of Canada. Every year, around a dozen polar bear hunting tags are distributed to the Ulukhaktok village.

However, things became strange for David Kuptana and his wife while on an apparently normal and lawful hunting trip. As usual, they drove snowmobiles across the wide ice to a nice island home, but they ran across something strange.
When they got at the cabin, they were surprised to discover that someone had broken in, most likely in search of food. After considerable deliberation, David concluded that the person in question was, in fact, a bear. The two couples drove away from the demolished cottage in search of a new one.
They were shocked to see that this cabin had also been robbed by a bear. They discovered a mattress pulled out onto the ice and a shattered window among the wreckage. David was confused since he had never seen a polar bear act in this manner before.

The Kuptanas visited a total of six cottages, all of which were destroyed. However, when they arrived to the sixth cabin, they were greeted with a pleasant surprise: they had captured the bear in the act! They studied the monster while it wrecked destruction, having noted that something about it was a little… odd.
The sassy creature had blonde fur and sable paws and eyes. It didn’t resemble a polar bear in the least. The frightened bear tried to flee, but David was already on the move, having pursued it on his snowmobile. Although David assumed it was a grizzly bear, his assumption was only half correct.

David put the bear down humanely because he was terrified of its unpredictable behavior. He took the bear, who continued to perplex him, to a local government official, who was as perplexed.
The cop, on the other hand, had a notion about what this bear-thing was. He assumed it was a hybrid, but the officer wanted to be sure, so he submitted the bear’s DNA to a lab to be analyzed. They awaited the DNA results with bated breath, but this wasn’t a Maury episode.
Twenty of these creatures were born in captivity years before David’s discovery, according to the tests.
