Eric Fructuoso told him in an interview with Ogie Diaz about the unexpected help sent to him by a friend.

According to Eric, his friend thought he was riding a tricycle at the height of the pandemic last year.

He was greeted by a friend he no longer named who saw the photo. Even though he refused the money, even though he allegedly survived the pandemic, his friend still sent the amount of Php20,000.

So Eric made sure that he could use the money that his friend had given him. He gave half the amount to the mother of his children which he could no longer support.

“Hindi ko sinasabing ok ako, hindi ko sinasabing hindi ko kailangan, pero mabubuhay ako. ‘kasi balita ko nagta-tricycle ka na raw,’ so akala niya totoo ‘yung nagtrend noon na nagta-tricycle ako”

And the remaining Php5,000 he set aside and used to start a business related to his previous passion for motorcycles. In just a few months, he was able to grow the money he didn’t waste which he started another income and it was his food business ‘Gwapigs.’

“E tumira ako sa mommy ko sa Naic, Cavite. Nakikitira na nga lang ako dito, Php5,000 sa’yo. Nakikikain na nga lang ako e. Pasensya na, ito lang mabibigay ko ngayon,” he said.

Eric also admitted that he is now separated from his non-showbiz wife Gian.

That happened when he was busy with the ABS-CBN afternoon drama series Kadenang Ginto, which aired from 2018 to February 2020.

Eric and Gian have four children.

In September 2019, they reported their happy married life for 16 years.

Eric says of his separation from Gian: Sabi niya sa akin, pareho kaming hindi pa mature.

“Dun ako medyo na… Sino ba nagma-mature? Ako nga, 44 years old, pag tinanong mo, ‘Kailan ka nag-mature?’ ‘Kanina lang.'”

According to the actor, it took him a while to take account for his shortcomings in their marriage.

“Nung nag-separate kami, two to three months in and out ako ng mga murang hotel.

“Dala ko lagi mga maleta ko kung saan ako pumunta. Nung time na yun, wala akong kotse.

“Biruin mo, minsan mag-taping ako sa Quezon City tapos mag-check-in ako sa Alabang para malapit ako sa mom, kasi umaasa pa ako.”
