“Maka-proud kaau amu lola. Lola Mediong lang namin sakalam.”

This is the caption of Maricris Samson Angelio, 27, an employee of an e-games company, in her post on her Facebook account on July 20, 2021.

She is a resident of Can-adieng, Ormoc City.

Roughly translated, she means: “Proud kami kay Lola. Lola Mediong lang namin ang sakalam.”

“Sakalam” is one of the trending words today that means “malakas” that has just been rumbled.

Maricris, on the other hand, has a reason to say that her Lola Mediong, or Remedios Angelio, 88 years old, is “strong.”

On the same day, July 20, GMA-7’s 24 Oras program featured Lola Mediong.

The news showed that Lola Mediong was diving and swimming in the sea. At her age, she is still in good shape for diving.

She was still graceful to swim towards the boat of the amusing teenagers. Not just once but twice, she dived!

Grandchildren of Lola Mediong are the teenagers who dared her to dive.

The video used by the program was taken by Maricris with her grandmother on July 11 and she posted on Facebook.

It already has over 2 million views, 1.3K reactions, 50 comments, and 584 shares as well.

In an interview, Maricris’ revealed that her father is one of Lola Mediong’s five children. She also said that her grandmother had been a widow for a long time.

“Matagal na po. Wala pa ako noon,”

And of course, her grand mother was asked about her well being.

“Okey naman po, malusog pa po. Kaso po, noong nagsimula ang pandemic, nagka-nervous breakdown po si Lola.

“Kaya po inaaliw namin siya gaya ng pagligo namin sa dagat.”

She also shared some details about Lola Mediong’s colorful love life, but Maricris had a plead, “Huwag ninyo na lang pong isali. Baka magalit na ibinuking ko siya, ha-ha-ha!”
