After announcing his retirement in PBA, “Pinoy Sakuragi” Marc Pingris finally revealed the reason about his biggest career decision.

Marc’s fans can not help but to feel sad over his retirement from basketball at the age of 39, but they respected the decision of “Pinoy Sakuragi.”

Pingris spent 16 years shaping his career in basketball, and right now, he has fully decided that he will focus on his family and his farm in Pozzorubio, Pangasinan, which is now supposed to be fully operational.

In an interview with Cabinet Files, he said that his retirement was not a choice that is made overnight.

“Matagal ko pinag-isipan. Pinag-pray ko ng mga ilang weeks. Tapos umuwi ako sa amin at umakyat ng bundok.

“Dun mas nakapag-isip pa ko kung ano ba talaga priority ko ngayon sa buhay.

“Sa totoo lang, kaya ko pa. Nasa kondisyon pa ako.

“Yun din ang sabi nila sa akin pero dahil iba na ang sitwasyon ngayon, ito na napagdesisyunan ko.”

Added the athlete, “Kinausap ko family ko, team mates, mga kaibigan muna. Kinausap ko mentors ko, sina Kerby Raymundo at Lakay Danny Ildefonso nagbigay ng advice

“Nagtanong din ako kay Kuya Johnny Abarrientos. Si Capt. Alvin Patrimonio, nagbigay ng insights niya na na-appreciate ko talaga.

“Pati si Ate Cindy [misis ni Patrimonio] nag-advice din kay Danica. Sina PJ Simon at Jeff Cariaso, mga nakausap ko din.”

He also extends his gratitude for everyone who became part of his journey, especially his wife, Danica Sotto-Pingris.

“Sa ngayon, mag-focus muna ako sa mga business namin at saka sa quality time kasama ang pamilya.

“Babalik din ako sa basketball, di ko lang alam kung paano sa ngayon. Mahal ko kayong lahat mga Kabsat!!!”
