Judy Ann Santos, 43, admitted that the loss of the ABS-CBN franchise in conjunction with the COVID-19 pandemic was a severe blow.

March 2020 is the first outbreak of pandemic in the country.

On May 4, 2020, the ABS-CBN franchise ended, and the next day the government stopped the network’s broadcast operations.

On July 10, 2020, Congress finally rejected ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal application.

“Parang medyo nakakatulala at some point. ‘So, ano na? Ano na ang mangyayari?’

“Ako mismo, nawawala sa sarili ko.

“Ako mismo nagtatanong sa sarili ko nung first part ng pandemic, ‘Bising-busy ka ba Juday? Bakit parang pagod na pagod ka?'” Juday admitted.

She was in denial at first.

Without the support of her husband Ryan Agoncillo and the love of her children, Judy Ann will not know how to deal with the hardship without the certainty of her job and that of other Kapamilya.

“I guess, malaking factor na Ryan was talking to me and asking me if I’m okay. Akala ko kasi nung una, okay lang ako with the closure of ABS, the pandemic, everything.

“Everything is okay. Naglalaro kami ng mga bata, lutu-lutuan kami. Tatanungin ko sila kung ano pwede lutuin for the day. Gawa ako ng, let’s say, Chinese night.

“Yung akala ko okay ako, pero nililibang ko lang pala sarili ko to just not think of what’s the real situation.”

Until Judy Ann faced the full impact of the problem her home network was going through.

“Yun pala, I am mentally exhausted. I am emotionally exhausted kasi isinasantabi ko yung pagpapasara sa ABS.

“Yung galit at hinanakit sa puso na wala kang magawa at wala kayong magawa because ganun, e. E, pag nagsalita ka, masama ka pa.

“Kailangan ko himayin yung mga bagay that will serve me good at the end of the day, because hindi ko naman din talaga makukumbinsi itong mga tao na ‘Eto pinanggagalingan ko.'”

Added the actress, “Dun nahiwalay yung dekolor sa puti. Sa nangyari sa ABS, nakita mo ang kulay ng mga tao. May nakakalungkot, nakakabigla, nakakamangha.

“Pero ang anchor mo na lang is yourself. Inangkalahan ko asawa ko, inangklahan ko sarili ko, inangklahan ko ang Diyos na matatapos din ito.”
