Miss Universe Philippines 2020 bet Rabiya Mateo’s mother, Mrs. Chrisine recently opened up about her conversation with her daughter right after the competition.

Rabiya made it into the Top 21 semifinalists, but dropped out in the next round. Andrea Meza of Mexico took home the title and crown.

In an interview with Cinema News, Christine shared that she knows that Rabiya did everything to make her performance at the prestigious beauty pageant.

“Proud ako kay Rabiya because of her sacrifices, perseverance, endurance na i-represent ang Pilipinas,” she said.

Added Christine, “Kahit minsan nag-aalala ako sa anak ko, nasa Iloilo ako, nasa Manila siya at mag-isa lang siya.

“Talagang nakaka-proud ang anak ko at nakakaya niyang mag-survive, siyempre sa tulong ng mga kagrupo niya.

“Sa akin lang talaga, safety ng anak ko ang concern ko talaga.”

As a mother, Christine made sure to boost Rabiya’s moral despite not making it to Top 5.

“Nasabi lang niya, ‘Ma, hanggang dun lang narating ko.’

“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘I love you, anak. Since tapos na ang event, set aside mo na ang isip mo. Magpahinga ka muna. Take your time.

“‘Galing ka sa pageant and napakahirap ng naranasan mo. Magpahinga ka muna for a while, and I’m looking forward for you to come back home.'”

Continued Christine, “Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Anak, pakabait ka diyan, enjoy mo. Magpahinga ka muna. Enjoy mo pagpunta diyan. First time mo diyan.

“‘May relative tayo diyan. Try to reach them nang makilala mo sila. Enjoy mo din ang lugar, nakapunta ka sa U.S.

“‘Nandito lang kami. Take care of yourself.'”
