Rabiya Mateo, naiyak matapos niyang sabihin ang bagay na ito sa kanyang costume
Filipino jewelry maker Manny Halasan can not help but express his frustrations after his sun-inspired head piece was missing on Rabiya Mateo’s outfit on National Costume segment of Miss Universe 2020.
According to him, he was not informed about the sudden change of plans with Rabiya’s look for NatCos.
“Nung live kanina, nagulat ako nang makita ko sa monitor. Shocked ako at ang family ko.

“Walang update since it flew to the US. Wala na akong idea and ang daming interviews asking for the ‘missing piece’ since it was announced na ako ang gagawa at may gagawin ako for the National Costume competition,”
He also gave thanks to fans who keep their full support towards Rabiya and her team despite of several shortcomings that was met along the way.
“Sending love to all. Let us focus on Rabiya. Let us all send her our support and love. Hindi madali ang responsibilities na nasa shoulder niya.

“I’m okey naman po. Hindi pa po time. There is a perfect time…in His Time,”
He also released an official statement on his Facebook account regarding the incident.
“Looking at the National costume for Miss Universe 2020, I hope to share the vision with everyone. It’s patriotic, historic, triumphant….. victorious.
“It is not just looking at the beauty of the creation onstage but beyond what the eyes can see.

“Each part symbolic of the deep culture and history embellished in it. Carved by the blood of heroes and enriched by our own history and heritage. It is not just colors and symbols… it is Filipino.
“Before, I only dreamed of having my creations appreciated in local pageants and local TV. My heart would burst in happiness to see my friends and family proud.

“It is my way of making my Nanay Norma and Tatay Menong (grandmother and grandfather) proud and alive. That the legacy they left will continue and that I bring them with me in my journey.”
