16 Eco-Friendly ‘Love Buses’ to Roll Out in Pampanga for PWDs

Commuters in Pampanga will soon experience cleaner, more accessible journeys as 16 fully electric Love Buses prepare to hit the road. Formed through a public-private partnership between the MVP Group’s Tulong Kapatid and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), this green mobility initiative provides an eco-friendly transport option tailored specifically for persons with disabilities (PWDs), women, and senior citizens.

The partnership was formalized through a ceremonial signing led by MVP Group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan and DSWD Central Luzon Regional Director Venus F. Rebuldela, alongside Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda.

Empowering PWDs Through Sustainable Ownership

Implemented under the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), the project does far more than deploy green vehicles. It introduces a brilliant profit-sharing model that empowers local PWD associations to become part-owners and operators of the fleet, fostering long-term economic independence.

As the tech and logistics partner, Global Electric Transport (GET) will manage full operations. Each electric bus is meticulously built with modern accessibility features, including low-floor entry ramps and dedicated wheelchair bays.
“My hopes for these buses are both ordinary and meaningful,” shared Chairman Pangilinan. “It is for students to get to school on time, for nurses to make it to their shifts without riding multiple jeepneys and tricycles. The hope is for the man in a wheelchair to be able to make it to the hospital for his check-up, even if he is alone.”

The 16-unit clean-energy fleet is a true collaborative effort:

DSWD Counterpart: Providing 8 electric buses.
MVP Group Contribution: Providing 8 electric buses funded collectively by the PLDT-Smart Foundation (supported by First Pacific Co. Ltd. and ASA Philippines Foundation), One Meralco Foundation, Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN), Metro Pacific Investments Foundation, and Maynilad Water Services, Inc.


By linking residential areas to workplaces, schools, and essential healthcare facilities, the Love Bus program proves that environmental sustainability and social inclusivity go hand in hand.
