Meralco crews work 24/7 to restore power in Habagat-hit areas
Manila Electric Company (Meralco) crews are working around the clock to restore electricity service in areas affected by heavy rains and flooding brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon, or Habagat.
As of 4 p.m. on August 30, around 49,000 customers were affected by service interruptions across Meralco’s franchise area, with nearly half located in flooded areas.
The affected customers account for less than 1% of Meralco’s total customer base. Most of the service interruptions were reported in parts of Cavite, Bulacan, and Metro Manila.
Meralco said its crews continue to respond to affected areas while observing safety protocols, particularly in locations where flooding could pose risks to personnel and delay restoration work.

“Our crews are working round-the-clock to attend to electricity service concerns and restore power service to affected areas as soon as possible and once it is safe to do so. We appeal to our customers for their understanding as we prioritize safety while carrying out restoration activities,” Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said.
The utility also reminded the public to stay away from downed power lines, damaged electrical facilities, and electrical equipment that may have been submerged in floodwaters.
Customers are urged to report hazardous electrical conditions to Meralco and avoid contact with electrical facilities in flooded areas.
Power outages and other electricity-related concerns may be reported through Meralco’s official social media accounts on Facebook (Meralco) and X (@meralco). Customers may also text 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211, or call the Meralco Hotline at 16211.
