AmCham Philippines Mourns Passing of Former Mindanao Chapter President Philip “Sonny” Dizon
It is with great sadness that the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham Philippines) bid farewell to Philip “Sonny” Dizon, a well-loved figure in the business community in Southern Philippines, especially in Davao City. He was a dedicated leader who served as the President of the Mindanao Chapter of AmCham Philippines for a decade. Sonny was not just a business luminary; he was known for his good-hearted nature and tireless advocacy for good governance.
His legacy goes beyond his accomplishments within AmCham Mindanao. His ten years of service were marked by a deep commitment to fostering excellence, integrity, and community in the region’s business landscape. His warm demeanor and genuine concern for the community’s well-being earned him the admiration and love of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his distinguished role in the Chamber, Sonny was a successful entrepreneur with ventures that reflected his passion for quality experiences and sustainable practices. His Davao Crocodile Park in Davao del Sur is a testament to his vision for hospitality, while his well-known Mt. Apo Civet Coffee showcased his dedication to innovative and ethical agricultural pursuits.
Sonny’s impact extended beyond business. AmCham Philippines Executive Director Ebb Hinchliffe fondly shared that “he was not just a colleague; he was also a dive, zipline, and water rafting buddy on the sidelines of our business meetings in Davao City.” Their camaraderie was such that Sonny welcomed him to stay in his home in Samal Island, exemplifying the warmth and hospitality for which Sonny was known.
At 69, Sonny leaves behind a legacy of inspiration and impact. Our thoughts and condolences are extended to his family during this difficult time. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie, and their children, Bianca, Rosanna, and Marco. May the memories of his kindness, leadership, and warmth provide solace to his family and all those mourning his loss.
As we reflect on the life of Sonny, let us honor his memory by continuing to uphold the values he championed, both in business and our communities. May he rest in eternal peace.
