It was a huge, grandiose house that mirrors a long history that it witnessed for over the years.
The Catskills mansion in Upstate New York is also called the “Circus House” because of being a time capsule for NY’s entertainment industry.
Founders of the YouTube channel Urbex And Chill personally visited the house to explore and discover something the people has not seen yet. From roadside diners that hadn’t seen customers in 70 years to bat-filled caves you need a headlamp to see in, nothing is off limits for them — including the Circus House.
According to the Boredom Therapy, here are some things the vlogger have seen in the mansion.
First Floor
“The first floor was normal enough. Peeling paint showed the home’s age, and a winding staircase with a steep vertical rise connected to a second floor. Dimly lit, the home showcased an odd balance between preservation and decay; while aesthetics faded, the bulk of it remained intact. The living room was no exception.”

Grand Space
“When was the last time a log burned in that fire place? The bright-yellow mantle popped amidst all the exposed walls, but the interesting color choice was only a sign of things to come. Upstairs, the adventurers came to understand why folks called it, “The Circus House.”

Heads Up
“Upstairs, the ceiling looks like a circus tent! You can almost hear the vintage, grainy record playing a circus tune, and you can picture what this room looked like in all its glory (if you ignore the cobwebs in the corners). But this was not the only instance of carnival decór.”

Under the Big Top
“Throughout the upstairs, the explorers found room after room painted to look like a classic circus. An old croquet kit, complete with the balls, too, sat oddly in a corner. One of the few objects left behind by the previous owners, which left the explorers with so many questions.”

BIG REVALATION
“Who would paint their home to look so much like a circus? In the 19th and early 20th century, circuses weren’t exactly happy places. Those who were shunned for their differences sometimes found themselves in the big top. The world of vintage traveling circuses could be entertaining, impressive, and even inspiring, but it could also be dark and demeaning.”
