Experts were perplexed about the discovery of a tomb of a man wearing ancient fancy trousers.

According to the scientists, the guy is clearly not part of a royal blood, but they can not deny that his clothing is a statement of an organization or an ethnic group he belongs too.

The man was waring red leather boots, and a lavish looking pants. These trousers were decorated with several different patterns: stripes up top, darker pointed shapes on the legs, square-like spirals on the knees, and two sets of angular lines on the bottom. The trousers delighted the research team.

But regardless of the details, the experts still had no idea how old the tomb was, and where exactly this guy came from.

Luckily, upon further exhumation of the grave, they made another curious find. Buried with the dead man was a fist-sized leather ball.

The grave itself is a part of a much larger graveyard in the Turpin Basin. Of the 3,000 plots, only 500 of them have been examined and three of these, including the fancy pants man, contained the leather balls.

“It’s extremely hot and extremely dry. For us as archaeologists it’s really good, because all these organic materials are naturally preserved, including textiles, leather, wood, and also the human, animal, and plant remains that are not usually preserved in archaeological contexts,” Patrick Wertmann, an archaeologist for the University of Zurich, explained.

This discovery will later on contribute on another exploration of the civilizations in Yanghai.

”The people of Yanghai were one of the earliest known domesticators of wild horses — which brings us back to the mysterious pants and the leather balls. In other areas of China, scientists knew that people played different horseback-based sports, meaning that the balls were likely for a game.” Boredom Therapy wrote.
